Visualising MS Teams Call Flows

For my Final Year University Project, I decided to tackle a problem that I noticed during an experience I had in my summer internship. I noticed that monitoring and analysing Microsoft Teams call flows was both time consuming and unclear. This inspired me to develop a web-based tool that visualises Teams call data. This makes it easier for IT departments or Heads of Departments to trace and better understand their communication workflows.

Throughout the course of the project, I meticulously involved relevant stakeholders from the Analysis phase all the way through to the Testing phase.

The developed tool features an interactive front-end using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the JointJS library, alongside a PHP backend with a MySQL database. The result is a Proof-of-concept system that supports dynamic filtering, call path visualisation, and user-friendly data interpretation, all designed with real organisational use in mind.

This project ended up being the 2nd best in my Cohort which I’m incredibly proud of!

Cheese Website

For my university project, I was tasked to develop an e-commerce website focused on cheese, built using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL. The website includes a fully functional admin section where administrators can manage cheese products, allowing them to add new items and update names, prices, and other details. All data is securely connected to an SQL database for management and storage. Users can add items to their basket, with the total automatically calculated based on the quantities and prices. When proceeding to checkout, the order and the assosiated user who placed the order is logged in the SQL database.

The site also features a search functionality enhanced by AJAX which allows for real-time auto-completion when searching. I took special care to incorporate accessibility features such as vision impairment, hearing impairment, mobility issues, cognitive impairments, dyslexia, and neurodivergence. This ensures the platform is inclusive for all users. Additionally, I implemented security measures, including protection against cross-site scripting and SQL injection to safeguard user data and maintain the integrity of the site. This project highlights a balance of functionality, user experience, and security in web development.

Driving Theory Test App

One of my most memorable and first technology related projects was during my A-level Computer Science course where I developed a Driving Theory Test application as part of my final project. I designed and implemented a comprehensive application that included a graphical user interface. This project was a significant learning experience, allowing me to apply my programming knowledge in a real-world context. I faced various challenges including creating a local flat-file database for user registration and login, implementing password and username requirements and visualising user results with graphs.

I also explored Object-Oriented Programming principles to structure the application's questions effectively. Despite being my first major project, and although the resulting code spanned thousands of lines and may not have been the most polished, it marked a crucial stepping stone in my development. My Portfolio Website

One of the standout projects in my portfolio is the recent development of my personal website which you are currently this reading on. Using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, this project was an excellent opportunity to showcase my skills and create a professional online presence. I meticulously designed the website to highlight my work, skills, experience and achievements. I made sure that it was not only visually appealing but also user-friendly. The layout is responsive, as it seamlessly to both desktop and mobile screen sizes which I achieved through careful use of CSS media queries. The website features interactive elements implemented with JavaScript which enhances the user experience with dynamic content and smooth navigation. I incorporated modern design principles for a clean and engaging interface and utilised various CSS techniques to achieve a polished look.

This project served as an excellent way to consolidate my knowledge of web technologies into a cohesive and practical application. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating it as it allowed me to apply various skills and techniques in a real world context. Throughout the development of this website, I took the opportunity to deepen my understanding of GitHub using it for version control. This not only helped streamline the development process but also provided valuable experience in managing code changes and collaborating effectively. As a result, you can view the development process and access the source code publicly on my GitHub showcasing both the evolution of the project and my coding practices. Overall, this project stands as a testament to my ability to integrate and apply my web development skills in a functional and visually appealing portfolio.

Swing CV Builder

One of my significant projects involved developing a CV Builder application using Java Swing. This university assignment was designed to provide hands-on experience with Java’s graphical user interface capabilities and file input/output operations. The objective was to create an application that allows users to manage and customise their CV efficiently. The application features an intuitive GUI developed with Java Swing which enables users to edit and update various sections of their CV to tailor it for different job applications.

Throughout the project, I focused on implementing a data model to handle the CV information which made sure that users could store, manage, and retrieve their data seamlessly. The project required extensive use of Object-Oriented Programming principles, which I applied to design and develop a user friendly interface and to ensure the application was both functional and efficient. Rigorous testing was also conducted to validate the application’s various use-cases, confirming its reliability and effectiveness. This project significantly deepened my Java programming skills using OOP and enhanced my understanding of file management in Java.
